« Last post by martyfriedman86 on January 10, 2013, 02:53:23 pm »
Hi everyone, i'm currently working on a project that involves replacing android with some linux distribution ported to the ARM architecture.

I've downloaded and tried a few images, but i can't sem to get the device to boot from the SD, i just starts android normally.

Is there any special procedure required to do this?

Thanks a lot!

General Discussion / How to Create recovery sdcard for AmlogicM3 devices ( Windows/Linux )
« Last post by hans on December 13, 2012, 09:58:55 am »

To prepare SD recovery card you need Linux machine and Windows/Linux software as HEX editor
which can access pysical sdcard. I'm using Linux to do partitioning stuff and WinHex to do the rest of
job under Windows.

Here is the procedure:
I have this one:

I have installed stane rom, now I need second part ( gaps and root )

I have tried this, to root but is not working for me

I get : error Upgrade cannot be performed. Files needed for upgrade are missing from sdcard.

[f16ref stick] 20120905_Android_ICS-ATV-108-f16ref-test [Stane Rom]

I have installed the rom

but no  google apps, play store and root

I have uploaded the files for anyone who has the same problems as me, so you can do an easily (re)flash (in case you screwed up like me) in 2 parts/stages.
(all credit to stane for the rom, this is just an easy patch fix)

1. extract contents of "first flash.rar" to the root of your SD card.
2. update system via update app.
3. let system install and reboot.
4. clear CD card, copy contents of "second flash.rar" to SD,
5. install from app, reboot.
6. done

I did the first part.

when I try the second part

I get : error Upgrade cannot be performed. Files needed for upgrade are missing from sdcard.

Can anyone help me with the second part ( how to instal gaps and get root )  ???

good news! I managed to get it working as intended. The setup is as follows:

-Media Center software in Windows 7 machine (other room of the house)
  -DLNA/UPNP activated
-Wireless router (2 routers for extra wifi power)
-Android mini pc
  -DLNA/UPNP browser app
  -MX Player app
  -LAN speed monitor app

When I first used the Android mini pc, the WIFI connection was so slow it streamed the recorded video file (.wtv) at a very slow rate. I added an extra wireless router in my living room to have a stronger Wifi connection. With the LAN speed monitor I discovered that you need at least a speed of 350 KB/s. Running well with 500 KB/s, usually I got an average speed of 1.2 MB/s. Streaming network video's is no problem at all!

I was able to make the bootable sdcard in mini xp
thats a mini windows that comes with hernis boot cd
but I needed to change the file permissions of sdcard.exe first to allow the sd tool to write to the card...
Hi all,

great to have a forum available for this device!

I bought this android dongle to be able to stream video's from my NAS router and Media Center PC (which both are UPNP and supports DLNA) to my TV. This construction I already use with my tablet and phone and is working great. Unfortunately the android mini pc is playing the video (even if it's a MP4 file...) at a very slow rate. Is this because of the WIFI connection(-speed)? How can I overcome this slow playing of video's? Is there anything I can test or do?
