I have installed the rom

but no  google apps, play store and root

Quote
I have uploaded the files for anyone who has the same problems as me, so you can do an easily (re)flash (in case you screwed up like me) in 2 parts/stages.
(all credit to stane for the rom, this is just an easy patch fix)

Instructions:
1. extract contents of "first flash.rar" to the root of your SD card.
2. update system via update app.
3. let system install and reboot.
4. clear CD card, copy contents of "second flash.rar" to SD,
5. install from app, reboot.
6. done

I did the first part.

when I try the second part

I get : error Upgrade cannot be performed. Files needed for upgrade are missing from sdcard.

Can anyone help me with the second part ( how to instal gaps and get root )  ???

Hi....

good news! I managed to get it working as intended. The setup is as follows:

-Media Center software in Windows 7 machine (other room of the house)
  -DLNA/UPNP activated
-Wireless router (2 routers for extra wifi power)
-Android mini pc
  -DLNA/UPNP browser app
  -MX Player app
  -LAN speed monitor app

When I first used the Android mini pc, the WIFI connection was so slow it streamed the recorded video file (.wtv) at a very slow rate. I added an extra wireless router in my living room to have a stronger Wifi connection. With the LAN speed monitor I discovered that you need at least a speed of 350 KB/s. Running well with 500 KB/s, usually I got an average speed of 1.2 MB/s. Streaming network video's is no problem at all!

Enjoy.

Regards,
~Eppi~

Hi all,

great to have a forum available for this device!

I bought this android dongle to be able to stream video's from my NAS router and Media Center PC (which both are UPNP and supports DLNA) to my TV. This construction I already use with my tablet and phone and is working great. Unfortunately the android mini pc is playing the video (even if it's a MP4 file...) at a very slow rate. Is this because of the WIFI connection(-speed)? How can I overcome this slow playing of video's? Is there anything I can test or do?

Thanks.

What do you mean by

Unfortunately that doesn't work because I get a null error since it boots into recovery.

Hi,

I have the same androidtv stick as yours (from the dx site) and I needed help getting the second part of stane's rom installed.

I tried stane's original firmware and installed it twice as per stane's advice to get both the core and the apps installed but the apps do not get installed for some reason.

Next, I tried your 2 part flash, the first part flashes fine, the second part states it is missing required files to update.  I looked into the factory_update_param file and found these lines:
--update_package=/sdcard/update.zip
--update_patch=/sdcard/new_patch.zip

So it's looking for the original update.zip, so I just copied new_patch.zip and renamed it update.zip.  Unfortunately that doesn't work because I get a null error since it boots into recovery.
Do you have any suggestions?

I was Expecting to receive a MK802  when I got this device from

http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/203155581.html

apparently they sent me something else entirely...

the device on the link I purchased from is TOTALLY different from the device I received

"MK802"  vs  "MBX f16ref"

the MK802  is a lot more famous and it does have a lot of custom roms and stuff
different CPU, ram, ....the list goes on

any way I just anted to give some heads up... :)

If you received your device unRooted (like I did) you will be searching for this (like I did for a really long painful time  ::) )

So your search is over.. ;)

Just make sure you are using the same device here.. :D

And as always I can't and won't be held responsible if you end with a brick or divorce your wife... ;D

ps:I posted this on another forum earlier so I'm just quoting my self here.. :)

Got the same Exact issue here..
These are not the MK-802 Allwinner A10 devices

If you look up your system info you will find
"AMLOGIC 8726M3" or something similar

and yes they are NOT rooted..
I was able to root mine by flashing this file:

http://www.4shared.com/zip/0E14ZavP/CWM-SuperSU-v096AML.html

just copy it to your microSD and run the blue icon called "Upgrade", then choose "Local Upgrade" and select the file and wait for it to restart...
it should run in recovery mode and install the file then start the system again..

You are Rooted Now :-)
Happy rooting..
